Meriden yes or no?.

Hi all.:)

Most if not all half frame guns were llion production stamped as such, and had
serial numbers of 241000 or higher. See parker guns the old reliabile.
But my gun is number 24083 so was it made at Meriden or llion works?.There
no remington marks on the gun only parker on under side of the frame.
So where is gun number 240829 or number 240831 and are they half size to?.
See pict of order:banghead:.

All the best Dave.:bigbye:
P.S. There is no mention of remington at all on the gun .

The butt plate has dog and bird plus parker on it and the grip cap says
parker brothers Meriden?

The guns on the IBM cards are from the Remington era. However, some Remington era gun are marked like Parker Brothers guns. I assume your gun is marked Remington on the bottom of the receiver and not marked Parker Brothers on the side of the receiver. How do you interpret the spelling of the customer for your gun?

The first Parker produced under Remington ownership was 236531

From my years of looking at Parker shotguns, it appears to me that there are more guns in various transition stages from pure Parker Bros. markings to pure Remington markings, than there are with pure Remington markings.

Ilion or Meriden?

As I remember, the Meriden shop was dismantled in 1938, and shipped to Ilion. It was reassembled and Ilion production began in 1939. Barrels, frames , stocks and fore ends begun in Meriden continued to be assembled and finished in Ilion.
There are two ( and maybe more) indicators of Ilion manufacture:

VH and GH guns have Remington spray laquer stock finish

There are no rib rollmarks or steel designation on Ilion Remington made barrels.

With respect to eras of Ilion Trojan restoration on another post: many of the skilled restorers who did the work overlapped all three generations of Del Gregos , and may have done some in the Remington custom shop as well.

Best, Austin

Bill meant to write; 'I assume your gun is marked PARKER on the bottom of the receiver not marked Parker Bros. on the side of the receiver'.

The customer was a Mr A.R. TACEY shiped 23-11-37.
The Parker name is not on the side but under the frame.

Dean, thanks for correcting my error. David's gun should be marked PARKER on the bottom assuming Remington manufacture.
