10 gauge shells
 

Is there a source for 10 gauge shells for my N damascus or is it a "roll your own" situation? thanks

RST make a low pressure "Short (2 7/8") Ten". They are great loads but a bit pricy.

Buy a MEC Sizemaster and components and a whole world of performance will open to you! A ten gauge with an ounce and a quarter, giver or take an eight, is an amazing combination!

To load "short tens", I use an old Lee hand loading kit, a shell trimmer to cut 3 1/2" cases to 2 7/8" and an old crank roll crimper. All of these things can be bought on eBay. I hoarded enough bismuth shot for use in these and they are about the only thing I load anymore. It takes a while but the results are satisfying...I like roll crimps:). Another lawyer with whom I duck hunt and who loads for a Krider 10g hammer once observed that at our respective hourly rates a box of shells cost us about $450 to load:shock: but I consider it cheaper than a therapist...

the short ten is a lot of fun to reload and very cheap to load except for laywers..ha charlie

Hey Mel, I have a 10ga/12ga CH with the 10ga barrels 26" light "upland" barrels. I bought a case of the RST lead loads......a potent load. It would take a normal shooter forever to use them up.

There just isn't a better product or company than RST. If you buy from those boys you'll be buying quality. I use their loads on a regular basis and haven't been disappointed yet.

RST's are great, but rolling your own are so much more fun. A Mec JR and some empty Remington hulls from BPI and your set to go. I have a Parker 2 5/8 so I cut them with a razor stuck in a dowel. I like the paper wads from Circlefly - that way you can load anything from 1oz to as heavy as you like. Go to the reloading forum we have here - lots of info. Paul
