DHE 20ga Live Bird Gun on Guns America
 

I have no vested interest in this gun but it looks to be a rarity. Haven't seen on in a long time and is it priced correctly? Thanks Jim.

I don't see any indication that it may have been made to "shoot live pigeons in the ring".
It is a Parker without a safety - no more, no less. A lot of Parkers were likely ordered by gentlemen who hunted quail and other upland birds where the hunter watched for the point, loaded his piece, walked to the dogs, shot the birds when they flushed, opened his gun and removed the shells and didn't reload until the next point. What ever would such a hunter need a safety for? More likely a safety would be the cause of missed birds and great embarassment.

Just haven't seen one in the smaller gauges for a great number of years. Does this increase its inherent value sans provenance? Thanks

Yes, they are neat guns with an interesting and scarce option. Unfortunately, there is no ownership provenance available in that serial number range. I have seen many Parker Brothers orders that specify "no safety". I have not seen one that specified the reason for the request.
