3 FRAME 12 GA?
I WAS THINKING OF SELLING MY DH 12GA THAT WAS REDONE BY BRAD BACHELDER BACK IN 2007 AND AS I WAS GOING OVER THE PAPER WORK I NOTICED THE SIZE OF THE FRAME AS A NUMBER 3. THE BBL LUG IS NOT STAMPED SO I TAKE IT BRAD MEASURED THE FRAME.
CAN THAT BE RIGHT? A 3 FRAME 12 GA. I DON'T HAVE A SCALE BUT THIS GUN IS VERY HEAVY WHICH IS WHY I ONLY TOOK IT OUT ONCE. I ALSO DROPPED IT AND CRACKED THE STOCK AND I'M DONE PUTTING MONEY INTO IT. ANYONE OUT THERE WITH A 3 FRAME 12GA. MY SER # IS 59007. |
Angel, get a ruler and measure the frame and you will know for sure what you have.
The fame size was, and still is, determined by measuring the distance between the firing pin centers; the frame size designation is the number of 1/16th of an inch from 1 inch. For example a zero frame would measure exactly one inch between the firing pin centers; a number two frame would measure 1 2/16 or 1 1/8 between centers. If you have a 3 frame it will measure 1 3/16. |
Give us the exact measurement between the firing pin centers. This will determine the frame size. Yes, there are #3 frame 12 gauge guns.

THANKS ROBIN, SHE'S A HEAVY TWO FRAME...

I took a second measurement and from the center to center of the firing pins it measures 1-1/16. Does that make sense??

In The Parker Story there is a table of measurements of frame dimensions, other than spacing between the firing pins, common to the different frame sizes. Take a look at those also. It might help to understand if the gun was built to "heavy" specs.

"Heavy" 12 Ga
The actual weight of the gun is not posted. One frame 12 ga guns weighing 8 lb plus are known in that serial range. See the recent PP article on frame size vs weight
