Parker patterning problem
 

Hi all,
Just got this parker originally built in 1904. The barrels are not original. The barrels currently on the gun have a ribbed sight. After missing about all my shots, a did some test fires at some clays on the ground. The patterns were hitting about 12-18 inches below the target. I had others try it it too and confirmed the same result. Any thoughts on repairs that can be done to get this gun back on target? Pics attached. Thanks

Getting a gun to pattern higher is one of the easier fixes for pattern "displacement".

Build up the comb where your cheek contacts it. Keep adding thickness until it gets the pattern up to where you want it.

Once you realize that you have it where you want it do some measurements to determine how much you added, then order a comb riser that will equal that.

One alternative way is to cheek the gun lower on your face. This effectively raises you eye, which is your back sight, raising the pattern.

Personally I prefer to build up the comb.

I had a GH 20 ga. Where the right barrel only shot a foot high and a foot left. The left barrel was right on. I corrected it by selling it to an 85 year old guy at a gun show that just wanted a pretty gun.

Sounds like a gun fit issue. Easy fix.
