Losses of note for our Parker Universe
 

While the site was down we had three losses to our Parker family.

Gary Carmichael Sr's wife, Megan, passed away on August 17.

On August 24 we lost Forrest Marshall, our primary founding member of the PGCA.

During the shutdown we also lost Jimmy Hall's mother.

The PGCA expresses our sincere condolences to the family and friends of Megan, Forrest and Jimmy. Prayers for all the families after the loss of a loved one.

My most sincere personal condolences to all their friends and families. Terrible losses there.

Thanks Mike for the update, though these are never the kind of updates we like to hear.
I knew about Megan a few days ago but hadn't heard about the others.

Jim Hall's mom, whose first name I can't recall, was a vibrant personality at gun shows for some years. She was a great authority in recognizing good Parkers on gun show tables. She got to one smallbore Damascus gun right before I spied it at one show. I offered to help her make some money on it, but she somewhat politely declined my offer. She was a treasure.

I'll never forget Forrest Marshall's "Wall of A-1 Specials" that he displayed at some shows back when. I think that collection may have been broken up some years ago. I still shoot Forrest's old 1/2 frame VHE 12 gauge, nice gun and light, like a 1/2 frame should be. I have pictures of a group of early PGCA members who were invited to Forrest's home to shoot and wave guns around. What a pleasant day with our co-founders. A nice guy who led our organization for many years.

Sad news. This has not been a good year for many of us.

Mills, for many of us in our eighties, and still alive, it has been a very good year. We will still honor those who have gone.

I first met Gary Carmichael when he was displaying his vertical collection of Grade 1 and P Grade Parkers. I can't remember where it was, but I was impressed. Gary also had a hand in helping me to put together my "C Grade without barrels". May his wife, Megan, rest in peace.

I met Forrest at Rivanna Gun Club about forty years ago . In his pharmacey he had a full body mount of a strutting eastern wild turkey he’d called in for my now deceased uncle in law who happened to be shooting his grandfathers Fox HE . Never had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Halls mother but I’ve heard a pile of stories about the lady . RIP 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
