slip on recoil pads

my Galco leather slip on pad has gone missing - actually its not missing - it is in one off my favorite thickest covers, 'cause I know it was on my Parker going in one day last fall, and I know it was not when I got out.

I find that the Galcos are discontinued (may be out in a new color later), I have tried as many online shops as I could locate, everyone is out of stock.

has anyone replaced one with one of these ?

how do they compare?

thanks

I had a slipon pad. It always fell off I figure it better long term to get a pad fitted. But sense its a classic.you probably want a black plastic one. There is a company who sends you a template.you outline your butt stock and send it back and they will make you a prefit.pad

Rick, Try "Classic Upland Supply" Albert and Lora are friends of ours. I just checked and they have what you need I think....:)

I have a plastic.ithaca recoil pad.for.the 1950s id give you lol. If you want to keep that look. I like the pachmyar 990 I think its called it.is serrated. So it wont slip off your shirt

Got an Uncle Mike's; so ugly it won't slip off.

I've got Galco's and I've got a CSMC Gamekeeper. The Galco leather is quite a bit more supple and came in a wider selection of sizes. I like the Galco's better, but there's nothing wrong with the Gamekeeper--particularly at the price.

Our club had a major SASS shoot this weekend, a discipline I am not familiar with. Some of the shotgun shooters had very professional looking butt covers. I imagine there is someone in that group who is making some very nice butt treatments. Who could that be?

I have the gamekeeper on a 12 gauge Vh and it works very well. Does not come off and gives me the extra LOP I need. I would buy another if the need arises.

Thanks, I had check their web site but I will contact them directly. And thanks for the other comments.

as for the black plastic ideas :rotf: I'll keep them in mind should I get a liking for AR's

this pad is a temporary solution used on several stocks until I decide I should get them restocked. if I was keeping this stock (and if the drop was close), I would do what I did for my hammer gun, (pig skin over a silvers style pad)

I have done some stock work through the years when the mood hits, maybe after the current work in process is wrapped up.

I have both makes (Galco and CSMC Gamekeeper), and for the monetary cost to quality difference, I like the Gamekeeper. The Galco is superior, but the Gamekeeper is more than adequate.
