LIFTER REMINGTON REPAIR?
 

Here are some photos of a 1874 lifter that has a 1943 Remington repair code stamp. Do the repairs shown in the photos look like factory repairs? I am curious if the serial number stamped upside down on the barrel lug was done by Remington since the original number is nearly worn off and barely legible.

It does have a repair code, but I have a hard time believing Remington would have worked on a gun from that early time, especially with the composite barrels. I also think they would have installed the 1910 latch plate, but perhaps that's something they never did to lifters.
Someone here may know better than me.

Yeah, that would be the first time I have heard of a hammer gun with a rem repair code on it. But I suppose it is possible.

The Parker Story states that very early Parker guns have been seen with Remington repair codes. Maybe this is one of them? I thought the joint repair shown looks like a factory job.

The joint and bite repair is something that I have seen on many early hammer guns. I figured it was a relatively common repair for the Meriden factory given the design of the gun.

I have pictures in my files of another Parker hook repair exactly like that one… it may be the same gun… I’ll have to compare pics.
