question on the round ball load
ive been buying a few old odd round ball loads that are in the 80 to 100 year old span...these are all low brass loaded shells..my question is why were these hunting loads in round ball not loaded in high brass...do any of you have the round ball in high brass loads in yalls collection...to me these are really neat loads i like the nickname they have been given..pumpkin balls... charlie

I've read somewhere that high brass meant nitro powders and low brass meant black powder [ back in the day ] because low brass had a shorter inside base wad and more room for BP. The nitro powders took up less room so there was a high base wad and high brass. Don't know if that's true - but it sounds good and interesting. Paul
