Remington 16g Game Loads (black hulls)
1 Attachment(s)
Many of us know that the older Remington 16-gauge Game Loads with black colored hulls measure a little shorter than 2-5/8" after firing, and the spent hulls were/are in high demand by gents loading for vintage 16g guns made for 2-9/16" shells. Some once fired GL hulls from my inventory came in at an average of 2.605" using a good dial caliper.
That compares with once fired RST 2-1/2" 16g hulls at an average fired length of 2.540" Now it seems the new 16 gauge black Remington Game Loads as loaded by CSG (Czechoslovak Group, the current owner of Remington Ammunition) are longer than the older genuine Remington GL shells. I don't have a fired length of the new Game Loads but based on this pic sent to me by a friend; it looks like they'll be full 2-3/4" length after firing. More woes for vintage 16-gauge reloaders. The Aguila 16 gauge shells in a blue and grey box,I think current manufacture measure just a few thousands over 2 5/8".I had these tested and average of 5 shells from this box was 8740 psi for the 1 Oz. 28 gram load of 6 shot.I have not reloaded any of these yet.Might be an alternative for some guns.Looking around on the net I don't see any available now though.
