Kansas Bobs

5 Attachment(s)
Had a chance to catch a quick hunt in North Central Kansas with a couple of gentleman friends. Although a number of things went "wrong" on this hunt, these pictures reminded me of the silver lining of any hunt.....Nature, dogs, good friends and of course, the birds.

1) 2 GH 20 gauges with some of the quarry
2) Bruce Day and myself having a short break
3) Bruce admiring the morning
4) Beautiful quail habitat
5) Oz and I getting ready for the next push

Hope to get another quail hunt in, here in SD yet this week. That is if the wind ever dies below 40. Get out there boys!

Looks awesome. I’m heading back out after the 1st of the year. Hope the weather holds out. I’ve got the fever.

Just to be transparent, I am a bit tardy in posting these pictures. This Kansas hunt happened a few weeks ago. That said, the snow in that area is still absent. Further, i am trying to get out for late season Prairie Chickens and Northern Bobs between now and Christmas here in SD. Gonna be highs of mid to high 40s here in SD. Any remaining snow will be gone before then!

I may be in trouble at home, but Garry Gordon told me to do it. Sticking to that story.

Happy to take the blame for anyone going hunting (so take Mina with you!), especially for Prairie Chickens and wild Bobs.

Oh, BTW, the best looking one in your photos was Oz...sorry Bruce and Dean.

Beautiful!

It's been so long since I experienced a covey rise in open country like that, I'd probably miss with both barrels. Bobs here have become creatures of the thick. Very rare to see them in open or short cover like that.
