Beautiful Winter Day for the SxS Shoot
5 Attachment(s)
It was cold and windy but sunny and the shooting action was hot! The food was delicious, especially the pies Clark McCombe brought for everyone to enjoy. It was good to see our SxS shooters out enjoying their guns and the camaraderie on this Christmas Shoot. We wish everyone a Merry Christmas!

It got up to 17 degrees with 13-17 MPH winds. These shooters rocked!!

A good day with good people and good food; Clark's pies were a big hit!
Three of the five shooters on our squad. Three of the Parkers on the course . |
icy trigger fingers, but warm friendship.
Mike, thank you for hosting. Merry Christmas to all ! Clark |
Man, it would be great if Parker extractor guns would lift fired hulls higher than they do. 50 or 100 birds on a sporting clays course at ~15 degrees and with a significant wind chill factor makes for gloves off and with icy cold fingers while shooting and to pull the hulls. Same with pulling the hulls while hunting although of course far fewer shells are fired. When I get a chance I'm going to test if even a short extension can be done to the extractor stem for increased lift and will still allow the gun to assemble and function properly.

I'm with you, Frank. My first vintage S X S was a Philly Fox Sterly with 30" extractor barrels. I used it on the dove fields for one whole season. I swore I wouldn't buy any more extractor guns for doves and quail, and I haven't. And, they may lift the shells a bit higher than the Parkers. I dunno, as my Parker has ejectors, too.
