Flip the picture and it look like JDG and to correspond to the other letters on the gun it must be flipped.

It does look like JDG when it’s flipped.

You are right the letters are upside down. the little tail goes to the front in Old Enlish font

When I saw the OG post I thought the initials looked wonky. I didn't think to flip the picture but if I would have had the gun in hand, I'm sure that's the first I thing would have done.
