New to me 28 ga straight grip 26” double triggers Q1&Q2 14 3/4” 5 lb 8 oz gun has had very few shots thru it and is a pleasure to carry.

One little issue when fired the forend lever will come up slightly, easily pushes back down. When broken down it snaps right on but when on receiver it is very tight. Feel like a little honing in right spot is what it needs or maybe just shooting it a bunch will help, anyone had this on a reproduction? Thanks in advance for input.

Scott make sure to remedy that situation. A young marine posted hereabout 2 weeks ago that his fore end came off while river hunting ducks in NC. His was a 12 ga. Edgar Spencer had similar situation. Apparently it is a common issue.

You need to file on the forend lug just a little to make the forend latch clip in more easily. This will prevent from recoil wanting to pop it open.

What I suspected Brian thanks, question now is exactly where should I gently file? Assuming side towards the breech and on the angle part of lug? Or should I smoke it to see wear points?

Dressed down lug and not the lever snaps into place, thanks Brian. Now to Thomasville Ga and put it to work.

This seems to be something that can happen with Parkers in general not just repro's.

I had a friend have this happen to a nice DHE 16ga original Parker while pheasant hunting in North Dakota. We watched him shoot a bird and then he started acting funny and looking at the ground & wouldn't move. He then called the rest of us over to him, only to see that his gun was missing the forearm and he couldn't find it in the heavy cover. It took several minutes with four guys looking to find it. We probably wouldn't have ever found it if he hadn't stayed right where he made the shot.

His cure on that original Parker was to replace the latch spring, but I doubt that is the problem with Scott's repro.

The issue is too tightly fitted of a forend. You want the forend to be tight. But too tightly fitted makes for these issues of recoil working the latch loose. Wood swelling can also cause the same thing.

My forend was just way too tight to the point of when it was on the gun was tight to open as to push barrels down with other hand,all well now. Thanks all and Happy Thanksgiving!
