Hello gang,
I recently inherited this Parker Bros SxS. I believe the serial # to be 17253 and order # 8179. I am open to any and all insight identifying this shot gun. Thanks so very much, John Attachment 136891 Attachment 136892 Attachment 136893 Attachment 136894 Attachment 136895 |
Checking on the Home Page under Research Letters shows the PGCA has records for this gun, so you could order a letter for it. Joining the PGCA reduces the price of the letter. Plain Twist barrels, no engraving and a plain straight grip stock show it to be the lowest grade offered in 1879.
The gun looks to be in nice condition for 146 years old. It appears to me from the photos that the Plain Twist barrels got blued at some point in the gun's life. A proper refinish by one of the experts could really make them "pop" -- https://parkerguns.org/forums/showthread.php?t=45062 |
Thank you, I'll have ro look into that for the.barrels. I have found a thread that my father posted some years ago and he stayed.that the gun had been in his mother's basement since 1957 when my Grandfather passed away. I know for sure that it has not been fired since that time.

And there’s that pesky M stamp where the stamp of the barrel steel is found.
Plain Twist barrel flat stamp is a T with a crescent above and below it. We may never know what this M signifies. . |
