I’m looking to see if I can get any insight on the lack of inscription on the top rib of this Remington era gun

Beautifull gun wood is like wow! May I ask what caliber your 95 is?

Bob Jurewicz 07-26-2025 06:43 PM

I believe Rem Era guns did not have Rib Stamping.

Thank you! Yeah, the wood is gorgeous on this gun.
The 95 is a 1934 in the 405 WCF

Beautiful bird gun!!

Ribs with no legend began appearing on Remington made Parkers in the 240xxx serial number range and get more dominant from there to the end. Your gun is the lowest serial number I've recorded with no legend. My previous low was 240245.

Thanks Bob, I wasn’t sure if they stopped with the stamp inscription on them. I haven’t seen enough of them to be sure

Thank you! It’s quite the joy in the field.

I’m glad that we can get another gun recorded. I thank you for your time and your knowledge.

Generally speaking, after the Parker operation was moved to the Remington plant in Ilion NY the rib inscription was dropped.
