Promo and Green Dot in stock at Midway

With the current free shipping offer the Promo comes to $388.99 including Hazmat or $48.62 a pound and the Green Dot is $458.99 or $57.37 a pound.

Good to see some Alliant powder coming back to the market even though the prices are the "new normal".

The ball powders like Perfect Pattern are less expensive but I think the Koneski rule applies, if you like and want it, buy it when you see it.

Promo is close to Red Dot in performance correct?

Pete Lester 07-24-2025 05:39 AM

It is exactly the same performance of Red Dot at a better price. It lacks the colored flakes for ID and may or may not meter the same as Red Dot or from one jug of Promo to another so it may require a different bushing to get the same number of grains as Red Dot.

The "Free Shipping" doesn't apply to powder. Bummer. It appears the load data is a one for one with Red Dot, but I've read that the lot to lot consistency with Promo isn't guaranteed.

When I put it in my basket to see totals it gave me the free shipping but I didn't buy because I am well stocked with it.

I stand corrected. Thank you!

Especially when using Promo, make sure you mix the can of Promo before opening a new can or jug and check your weight. Also weigh your charges when changing to a new Lot # of powder. They can vary quite a bit from Lot to Lot.
