Short Ten Target Load
1 Attachment(s)
Hello everyone!
I recently got some test results back from Tom Armbrust for a nice target load in the short ten. Great for those clays ranges that don’t allow payloads greater than 1 1/8 oz. The load consists of a Cheddite hull and primer, 27 grains of Winchester Super Field (Tom did advise that 28 grains could be tried—see pictures), a BP x10x gas seal, two circle fly 10 gauge nitro cards, two 1/2” fiber cushion wads, one more nitro card, 1 1/8 oz. of shot, a thin overshot card, and roll crimped. The two patterns show this load using 27 grains of powder (left) and 28 grains (right), both fired from roughly 25-30 yards out of a full-choked Winchester 1901. I hope this information is of some use to people on here. Happy shooting! |

I don't know why this picture is posting upside down, but one can still gather a frame of reference from it. The above-mentioned left and right patterns should be reversed when viewed this way.....

I’m gonna load a handful with WSF Monday but using SP-10 and BPI/Gualandi wads . Might cart a gun into the shop and shoot in the snail instead of bringing home and trimming tree limbs . I’ve used WSF quite a bit in the 20 and when WSF and the WIN AA16 wad first hit the market it was the only powder I used in the 16 . Now that I no longer am loading 16 or 20 this’ll give me a use for 6-8 pounds of WSF I have .
