Ouch, I shoot Boss bismuth during late SD pheasant season. I have 2 boxes left of 16 ga. Got a couple boxes of Kent bismuth 12 ga, but I don't like their 1300+ fps recoil.

I met a fascinating fellow at the Southern while browsing the tents on Friday or Saturday. He was a US business owner with a UK location as well. He told me about a non toxic shot
material the he was working on with some folks in the UK. Their testing indicated a “near lead” ballistic properties. I don’t remember the details but he believed that they were close to bring the product to market. I believe Horton/Horton was involved. I wonder if this is it.

I use Kent Upland Bismuth , for both upland and duck hunting, sold in 25 round boxes . Works fine for jump shooting ducks in 16 and 12 gauge

Likely the new “Hortonium” shot made by Horton & Sons. They are moving from the UK to Michigan. Boss is also a Michigan company and if they are having supply issues with Bismuth this would be a win-win for both companies to hit the ground running. It must perform pretty well to abandon bismuth completely, it’s going to take time to educate consumers on this new material. As far as I know nobody is saying what the alloy or blend of materials is so I am not sure it’s safe in vintage barrels.

Just go back to lead for Pete's sake. Waterfowl populations have been diminishing for decades and we've been off lead since the 80's. Wasn't steel supposed to save them???

Channing, I recall hearing from some friends in economic development that the move to Michigan was gummed up in red tape. Have you heard anything recently?
