New to me grouse gun(Tempted by the Dark Side)

My best friend Terry is a diehard vintage Beretta shotgun fan. He shoots BL4 20 ga on grouse and a S2 12 ga sidelock with double triggers in 12 ga for pheasant.
I came across this BL3 26" that looked like it had never really been carried or shot much. Factory box with all the paperwork were there. Weighs 5 lbs 8.5 oz on my postage meter and nice trigger pull, extractors(BL4s are ejectors). Price in 1974 was $296, which adjusting for inflation would be $1900 in today's market. The gent flew fighter jets In Vietnam for the Navy, and Terry is a retired airline pilot, so some interesting conversation. Looking forward to shooting this on wobble trap on the 4th. |
I was tempted by an Italian in college, but it wasn't a shotgun. But I see why you like that one!

Harold, that is going to be a mighty fine grouse gun. I love the BL2/3 and never could get one in great shape. That was back when Beretta used real honest to goodness tree wood on stocks with actual pattern to it. That's a dandy.

Thanks Andy, I've seen many in far less condition going for over $1300, but bought this for $950. My buddy said if you don't buy it, I will.

Harold and Reggie, I was tempted by an Italian in college, too…and married one!:)
