South Georgia Dove Hunt
 

Anyone know of any pay dove hunts in South Georgia?Looking to get a jump on hunting since Florida doesn't open till late Sept..

That's tough, Bob. It's hard to know about opportunities to get on a good shoot without having any local contacts. While most shoots are hit and miss the best ones are closely guarded secrets.

I sincerely hope you are fortunate enough to find out about one. A "warm corner" on a good sunflower field must be one of life's greatest, and most exciting, wingshooting adventures.

Nothing against dove shoots in GA or any other state in the Old South , but go to Argentina in January or February you’ll never look at shooting here for dove the same . But if you go do it with a group you know .

Craig, I feel the same way about our dove hunts here in AZ. After or while limiting out, there are unlimited Eurasion dove. We call it, "our little Argentina". The birds just keep coming, a bird hunter's paradise!

Maybe for you, but not for me. I've been to Cordoba on two different trips and shot to my heart's content with a doublegun (20 ga. Beretta SPII Sporting) both times. While it is an unmatched shooting destination for doves, and just a wonderful trip overall, it will never take the place of traditional dove shooting in the South.

First time I went I arrived back home on the Thursday before dove season opened here on Saturday (and I prefer late August in Cordoba). Saturday afternoon I was on my stool in a sunflower field enjoying it just as much as i ever did.

Do Eurasians taste as good as mourning doves?

IMO, yes.

Yes Andy, the leftovers even taste great cold. I'll snack on them throughout the day during work.
