What does the # 8 on the barrel flat mean?

This is a Vulcan grade Parker with serial # 110413. I am wondering what the # 8 means that is in the area where the frame size usually is. The gun is advertised as a 12 ga. Did they make a 12Ga. on a size 8 frame? I tried to post just the picture of the barrel flats, but it wouldn't let me. Next to last picture.

It's a 2 frame gun. The "8" is probably an inspectors mark

No one still alive knows.

The Kf is the barrel steel mark used on Vulcan Steel barrels from the introduction of the Quality VH guns into the 134xxx serial number range.

Similarly Titanic and Acme Steel barrels through that time frame are marked with a K --

By the 135xxx serial number range we begin seeing the V, T, A in a circle barrel steel marks.
