Vise Restoration
 

Not exactly the type of restoration we are used to, but recently I couldn't pass up the opportunity to upgrade my daily driver. My old fixed base Parker 953 1/2 vise served me well, but when a 974 swivel base vise came up for sale I had to jump on it. Like most vises it needed some TLC. We stripped it down, cleaned off the old grease, blasted off the old paint, primed and painted with a hammered rustoleum which held up quite well on my 953 1/2. Managed to find an original No 2 swivel wrench. Here are some shots of before and after.

My 974 was my first Parker vise, and probably the most versatile for general shop use. Many vises later, big and small, it is still my go to vise.
