What would possess my 9-year-old boy to decide to snack on my books. I can't freaking believe it. I had these books close to twenty years, all in very good condition and now they are trash. if it wasn't for the love, he be dead.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! :eek::banghead::cuss::crying:

PETS AND CHILDREN ARE WHY WE CAN'T HAVE NICE THINGS.

Angel Cruz 06-01-2025 03:30 PM

It kills me every time I look at them.

Garry L Gordon 06-01-2025 03:37 PM

I don’t blame you. Those are early classic upland books (at least as I can see the remaining spines). As a long time book collector, it hurts to see that. So sorry for you.

So I gotta ask; why? I could say all the silly stuff, like is there some sort of vitamin deficiency, but I won’t. Just asking again: why?

Dan Steingraber 06-01-2025 08:33 PM

Ive seen this from friends before a few times. Never seems to be a good explanation.
Some people suggest that the dogs are attracted to the old glue.

Angel Cruz 06-01-2025 08:57 PM

Steiner, the thought of the glue crossed my mind.

And mice and bugs and humidity… Seems se just can’t have nice things.

It would truly kill me. Many of my books have been inscribed to me and to lose those would be terrible.

That's why we don't store or display our favorite decoys on lower shelves.

Angel Cruz 06-02-2025 11:14 AM

Yeah, I messed up on that one Bill.
