New to Forum
Hello,
I've had a Parker for a while now and just noticed this forum. My Parker is serial number 84xxx. My father used to hunt with it when he was young. About 35 years ago he was not allowed to enter a skeet shoot due to the twist barrell. He gave the gun to me. I'm thinking about inserts. Is there an insert that I can get for the gun that would allow me to shoot it? I would rather not modify the gun if I put inserts in. Also, what is the average value for a Parker? Should I have it insured? http://williampowell.net/parker/parker.jpg Thanks. |
Hello William and welcome to tha PGCA Forum
You may not need inserts or any other modification to be able to shoot your Parker. Many of us shoot our favorite Parkers that have Twist or Damascus barrels simply by using appropriate loads made for such guns. You should have a gunsmith, competent in evaluating old side-by-side shotguns with such barrels and he should have the necessary tools to measure and properly examine your barrels for safety. I have shot literally thousands of rounds using many of my Damascus barreled guns with absolutely no trepidation. Look on our Home Page for links for Grades and FAQs covering many of your questions. |
