New From Kansas - Project Parker

Love seeing all the old Parker’s in the field. Hope to see more. Here’s the gun that brought me here. 1904 12 ga VH #2 with 30” full bores that was rough at best. Refurbished to get back in the field. Cleaned, tightened, stock and pad repair and finish. Checker restore from a bad job, black barrels, cleaned rust, lengthen chambers. Was quite a project but I think worth the ducks and geese I shot with it. Fine duck gun brought back to the field. Thanks and hope to see everybody else’s projects.

Great getting it back out to the field, Grant. You did all the work yourself? Wish I had the talent to do that..

Looks like it's ready to go hunting. Welcome.

That's what I appreciate in a gun. As a "bottom-feeder" I love taking another man's junk and not restoring it, but rehabilitating it so one is proud of the finished product, and others would love to have one like it. Another one saved from the parts bin.

I recently purchased a 1900 Remy. They made them from 1900 until 1910. It's in just fair condition. I think all were 12s. It locks up tight tho and the stock doesn't have any cracks. It had a butt extending leather sleeve on it, so the color of the stock changes about half-way. I bought the gun because it was cheap and I think Remy's have some kind of a relationship with Parker. Screws on the bottom of the receiver look Parkerish. It is not demascus and the gun is much lighter than my G Grade. It'll be fun to gussy up and it should be a great shooter. I cannot afford ultra expensive guns so I'm a bargain basement kind of guy.

I shoot an old Remington 1900 as well. Made 1901. It was a project gun from my granddad. But I took it out duck, dove, turkey and prairie chicken hunting.
