1 1/2 & 2 frame?

Looking at a 1 1/2 frame VH 12 ga.. What's the difference between 1 1/2 and 2 frame size's? https://i.postimg.cc/y6QcxpPj/IMG-3565.jpg

The only differences are the width across the bolsters, and the height of the breech. All other dimensions are the same, i.e. firing pin spacing, frame width, etc.

If you have a copy of the Serialization book, there is a table on page 45 which gives all of the frame dimensions, for all of the frame sizes.

Does it make for a noticably lighter gun?

It doesn’t.

Some might say the 1 1/2 is lighter, but what weighs more, a pound of bacon or a pound of beans?

Hence the chamber wall thickness will be slightly less on the 1 1/2 frame gun.

Which is why 2 frame barrels taper so quickly, in order to still balance at or near the hinge pin. Fractions of an ounce (.285 lbs/cu.in)

Very true and definitely not even a consideration in the loads you’ll be using.
