Double Gun Journal Index Request

Good morning:

I do not own these, and was wondering if someone who does could be kind enough to check and see if the DGJ published any articles on Chauncey M. Powers? I wrote to the DGJ website but received no reply.

If they did, I just need the edition and year, and I'll get work obtaining any.

Thank you in advance for any assistance.

Alfred, I'm sorry I was slow getting a reply off to you, but here it is. Volume 13, issue 4, page 173, there is an article about Powers and the Faries cleaning rod. That is the only mention of Powers to the end of the second index and reader. I'm sure there is mention of Powers in old sporting publications. My use of the "LA84" index has not been successful for a few years, but some researchers seem to be able to access it. I used that source for many years until I had problems.

I have Dean.

My mission is more towards learning about his Purdey and his efforts in early conservation and support for wildlife refuges and management areas.

As we know, Powers was an outstanding Trapshooter. His Purdey was almost certainly the inspiration for the gun that John Philip Sousa ordered in 1911.

What has it been now that Double Gun has been out of biz? Three years? Four? What a crying shame. Luckily I kept 20 years of the magazine. Today I love it more than I ever did. What a wonderful magazine! Fantastic photography! Amazing research. I used to look forward to the next issue and now I approach my bookcase packed with copies of the magazine with equal anticipation.
