SAFETYS: BLUED, NITRE BLUED, OR CASE HARDENED?

Since these almost always have no finish on them, how did they leave the factory? Photos of the only unfired gun I have seen (in Muderlak's book) don't give me a clue. I found nothing in The Parker Story.
