REPRO 28 GA 28" Q1/Q2
I just watched a GB auction for a 28 GA 28" Q1/Q2.
Hope it is OK to report. Gun sold for $7577.00 plus tax an GB fees. WOW!!! https://www.gunbroker.com/item/1085296759 Bob Jurewicz |
Hmmm… I have the same gun but with a beavertail and 26” tubes.

I think the price factor was dictated by 28 inch barrels

The days of finding PR 28gauge with double triggers for 5K is over! This one was a hard to find one with 28"Q1/Q2 one of a small number made and well-presented too. I was watching it closely but due to my shot show expenditures, my bank account could not eek anymore out....)-: That is only the second one with that barrel and choke combo I have had any chance to buy in many years collecting. Maybe next time. SXS ohio

I think that price was very reasonable for the rare combination represented. I would have been tempted.

This one not only has the seldom found combination of double triggers & 28" barrels in a single barrel set gun but it also has the fairly rare open choking to boot.
The other thing going for it is it's a new in box never shot gun with the original cardboard shipping box & an unblemished hard case that looks like the gun has never been in it. Which is fairly rare in itself being has the repro's are over thirty years old with many of them thought as shooters rather than collector type guns. Now in 2025, this one could definitely fit the collector status due to its condition thirty some years after production and the closeout period for them. IMO: The price was probably well in line for this one. The problem for me is, I wouldn't want to shoot this one and ruin what it presently represents, once it's shot and has some warts on it from doing so, it would just be another Repro with worn off case colors. |
Redoing a worn Repro with new case colors is a popular option. I wonder what Turnbull Restroration would charge for a complete case color job including taking the gun apart and putting it back together?

A gun like this is only a virgin once! Take it out and shoot it & all you'll have is another used gun. Redo the case colors once they have worn off and all you'll have is a redone gun. Probably a nicely redone one, but still not the virgin that this one is.
