Parker hammerless stock repair
Hello Parker folks. I am a gunsmith in Las Cruces New Mexico and have a customer's 16 ga hammerless shooter that he just purchased and brought to me for repair. The stock has been attacked by some bubba with bedding paste and no idea what to do. I've had to fill and redrill the long screw under the latch and make a new screw. He also drilled the hole for the safety rod so far off it misses the safety arm all together. This is the first Parker I have seen. The push rod is notched to clear the screw that attaches the floor plate, and I wonder if that hole is drilled at an angle? I see that the rod is turned a smaller diameter on one end and assume it fits inside the safety arm housing. I would appreciate any thoughts and possibly a source for a new stock (if the customer agrees).

The stocks on these guns are all fitted to each gun. So one does not fit all. But usually if something is found that is the same frame size, they can be made to work with some effort. Who knows how much or what kind of effort.
The safety reset rod is held in place by the tang screw bushing. Not just the screw. And yes, it goes in at a bit of an upward angle. The rod is only necessary if the shooter wants an automatic resetting safety. |
Scrub the automatic safety if that will make the job easier.

Tom, that doesn’t tell us anything pertinent to stock repair or replacement. . |

Thanks for the feedback. The stock must be from another Parker because it really doesn't fit right. And while assembling I must have tripped both hammers. Can the barrels be attached with both hammers fired?

Yes.
