Value/info on Parker gun from 1912 - I have pics
6 Attachment(s)
I've already printed off my Research Letter and filled it out to send off. But I'm impatient and want to see what I can find out in the mean time.
I just picked this up as part of several guns from my grandfather's estate. The gun's condition is fair-poor (it has sat for many years uncleaned and I just got it home a couple hours ago, so I haven't cleaned it yet). I've attached a few quick pictures. Serial number is 161277 and looks like it is from 1912. Any thoughts on grade (I went through the FAQ and it looks like it may be Grade 0?) and value? Thanks, Parker |
A 20 ga. VH with 28" barrels. Lucky you! Get some oil on that thing soon - looks like it has some surface rust but it doesn't look pitted...yet.

The identification & serialization book calls it out as a V grade hammerless with capped pistol grip in 20 guage with 28 inch barrels, which by your picture it looks correct. I feel your grading is quite a bit more critical than it actually appears to me. It looks like it just needs a good cleaning.

Anyone willing to do a WAG (wild-ass-guess) on value? I understand it's whatever someone will pay, but there are $1000 weapons and $5000 weapons, etc...
Obviously not looking to sell a family heirloom, but it's fun to know. Parker |
I paid $3450 for the same gun a few yrs back but with original DHBP and in better condition than yours. It has 3" of DAH so no one else wanted it.... Others will have a better idea of the value of yours than I and will hopefully chime in here soon. Nice to get a family gun like that. Be nice to it...

A buddy of mine just sold a VH-20 with 26" barrels in much better condition for $2900.00

2500 to 3000

As it is a family heirloom and you won't sell it I'd insure it for $4000. You wouldn't be able to sell it for that but if it was stolen by the time the insurance company discounted it's value you would get what it's worth.
WAG I just love that!:bigbye: |
