Woods' Buster Black

This is one of the most unpleasant tasks that a bird dog's partner must face. At 1:16PM today, Woods' Buster Black (Buster) left me. I made that dreaded trip with Buster on my lap as my wife drove us to the vet's. Buster was by far my longest lived bird dog haveing been welped on April 5th 2006 aling with three other siblings. Buster was 18yrs, 8 mos, and 25 days old. Buster slept beneath me on his bed while I slept on the couch above him for over the last two years. I am left with one dog partner now for the first time in many years. Holly turned 13yoa on the 16th of this month. Pet yours once for Buster for me.

Very sorry for your loss. Those with bird dogs know that it's a bond much closer than most pets. While all dogs are precious, losing a bird dog really seems to sting. Sorry for your grief. Andy

My deepest sympathies. I know all too well the heart ache and sense of loss you are feeling.

I lost two within 6 months. It's never easy but 18 years? You had a good run.

Willian - that piercing sting will eventually be replaced by an enduring ache… But it will take time.

Be well.

Even in the sadness, you know how lucky you were to have so much time together.

Very sorry for your loss of Buster.

Thanks to those that posted condolences on the loss of Buster. Reading them brought back the obscured vision that plagued my spelling on the original post.

The pain never goes away but the memories sooth the mind

Sorry to hear. I had to put my Aussie down the day after my mom's funeral some years ago; one of the saddest days of my life. He was really my daughter's dog but when she moved to her apartment she couldn't have him there so he became dad's dog. I mention it only because of a similar name; he was Prince's Baxter Black.
