Repro case question

The case that came with my Repro 28 gauge is for 2 barrels, I only have one set of barrels, 28”. I dug the case out yesterday for the first time in about 5 years just to check it out; it has the dust cover, and there is a tag inside describing it as a 20/28 gauge case, maybe mentioning for 28” barrels. My
Snap caps are slightly loose when inserted in their holding cells, which makes sense if it’s designed for both gauges. I assume there are cases designed for 28 gauges? Contemplating selling my case, I never use it, and never will, and, if I’m concerned about everything being “correct” (which I’m not), I should find a 28 gauge one barrel case…or the one barrel case for 20/28 gauges, depending on what was offered. Realistically, I’ll die owning the Repro, hopefully after hunting/shooting it a lot, and it’ll be someone else’s issue. It appears these cases are in the $400-600 range, depending on condition? Mine appears to be in good condition. I paid $4500 + sales tax of about $300, and, paid Mr. Eyster in Columbus, Ohio about $400 to open my chokes. If I could decrease my cost basis by $500 I may just do it. I wouldn’t call myself a collector…I have started hunting this gun and really like it…case coloring disappearing fast, so be it. Main question was regarding the availability of strictly 28 gauge cases, in the event I want things to be correct for the gun I have. Thanks! Happy Holidays! Really enjoy this place!!!!

The 20/28 cases were intended to fit either gauge, they are identical with the exception, perhaps, of the barrel compartment length. There are 26" cases and there are 28" cases. The snap cap holes were also sized to accommodate either 20 or 28 gauge snap caps. The 20 would fit good and the 28ga. a little loose. You need to find a 20/28ga. case that accommodates a 28" barrel length gun. Do not buy a 12ga. case.
