Primer missing in snap cap

Just noticed one of my 28 ga snap caps is missing the primer…appears by looking at the other one that it screws in…any suggestions for a replacement part??? Thanks!

The Parker Reproduction snap caps were sourced from Parker-Hale in England. You can inquire via e-mail through their website:

Short of that I see a pair currently listed on eBay: https://www.ebay.com/itm/116371803078

The one I keep in my SBT is stamped A&F; it came apart in the case. The primer is spring backed and adjusted via a screw inside the cap. I was able to find all the pieces but the screw but got one at the local hardware although it took some trial and error to find the right thread. Is everything missing in yours?

Yup, everything missing…

I have seen people make snap caps from an unprimed hull shortened and a piece of rubber or plastic rod pressed into the primer cavity and trimmed. They last surprisingly longer than you would imagine. A piece of pencil eraser works well. You might try that as a temporary fix if you need it.

Thx for the help! I have a few sets of the wooly-style snap caps in 28 gauge, probably use one of those for the moment. I’ll probably die owning this gun, not too stressed about the missing guts of this snap cap, but if it was easy and cheap I’d probably fix it. My case is for a 2 barrel set, I only have one set of barrels. And, I’m hunting this gun a fair amount, and wearing the case coloring off quite a bit. I like the gun, it’s a DT/SF/PG with 28” barrels…had Mr Eyster in Columbus open them to about .015/.025 two years ago. I just spent $90 on an Orvis leather slip on recoil bad…big improvement over the Tourbon I have…went with XS size, I like how it hugs the stock…no movement. Thanks for the info, I appreciate it!
