Upland Adventure 2024

My wife and I made our annual pilgrimage from NC to the UP of Michigan back in October for a couple of weeks of chasing the King of the uplands with our trio of Setters. We had the driest conditions I have ever seen while we were there and the scenting conditions had to be tough but our dogs performed very well. Several days were hot and we only hunted a short day on those days. Grouse numbers were what I consider very good but we found very few Woodcock this year. Parker 28 Repro for me and my wife used her RRL 28. Fried Grouse and mixed vegetables is hard to beat. My 18 month old pup Hank got a nose full of Grouse scent while we were up there and pointed and held several for us while we were there, he is going to make a bird dog. We took a side trip to Lambeau while we were up,really enjoyed that !! Life is good !!!
PS,if anyone can straighten those pictures up I would appreciate it.

Agree with you James, grouse numbers were good, but as dry as I've ever seen . Woodcock were few and far between . I also had my trio of setters along, I was there for 17 days. Two of my three setters went down with serious health problems that I'm still dealing with with. Had no internet up there so really haven't posted anything , I will once I get caught up, both dogs back to the vet in the morning.
Great pictures by the way, lm a setter guy.
