Arrowhead region of Minnesota

Work was getting me down a couple of weeks ago. So I took a few days off, packed up my truck, and drove 10 hours up to Ely, MN. I took along my Parker VH 20 gauge and also my Fox Sterlingworth 20 gauge Deluxe. I traded between guns each hunt but unfortunately didn't have the success with my Parker as I did with the Fox. Three days of hiking in the cool autumn forest rejuvenated my body and soul.

Awesome! My favorite trail is a skosh over 3 miles, round trip. The other day I counted 13 flushes. It has been my 'go to' walk for over 50 years. When the season ends, I start counting the days til the next season.

Wonderful guns to take grouse with, Keith. I can see why your hunt helped to clear your mind.

By the way, where are you located in Missouri? If the PGCA has a table again at the Pheasant Fest in March (Kansas City), maybe we'll see you there?

Nice way to clear your head Keith. I just carried my 16ga Sterlingworth Deluxe in SD so I can see why you had success with your 20. Just a delight to carry.

I live in Independence.
Unfortunately I'm not a current member of PF. I was in the past, I didn't bird hunt much after my vizsla passed and let my membership expire. I am thinking about getting another dog and getting back into it though.

Roundsworth, I walked a few hunter access trails around the area and was pleasantly surprised by the amount of birds I kicked up even though I was dogless. Definitely going back next year.

You don't need to be a member to get into PF. Anyone can attend.

Keith, you should! It’s hard after we lose a trusted companion/hunting dog but getting a new one is also good for the sole!! Thanks for sharing pics!

Keith, as Dean pointed out, you don't need to be a member to attend (and attendance admission gets you membership!).

You'll find some great company in the other PGCA members who attend. There is a parade of hunting dog breeds that takes place, so you can "window shop" for your next hunting companion.

You're right there in Independence -- I sure hope we see you there!
