AH Fox AE 16 gauge

I thought I would post some pictures of the Fox AE 16 gauge that has 26" barrels with ejectors and a Kautzky single trigger on a straight grip stock. I did get the card from the Fox Collectors and this is the original configuration, although I doubt the beavertail forend is original, but it works well. The SN indicates that it was made in 1929, but the information I received says it was produced more like 1931. It is a nice light field gun that I plan on shooting some sharp tails in Montana in the next few weeks.

Larry, what a nice gun. Looks like a bird getter for sure.

Very nice!! Are the barrels marked Philadelphia or Utica? Do the barrel flats have the FOX PROOF oval or the SP in an oval Savage Proof?

It's a beaut, Larry. I have one with 30" barrels. Lovely handling guns.

Are those case colors original?

Savage or Fox

The barrels are marked Philadelphia and the barrel flats do have the FOX PROOF oval. It is in the book as a 1929, but the information that came from my inquiry from the Fox Collectors group said that it was in a group of guns delivered in 1931.

Really nice condition AE 16. I have an A from 1916 with the POW grip. Your's is a beauty.

Larry, very nice 16 AE. Show us some pics of the forearm both outside and inside. A bird getter for sure! As to the dating of the gun Researcher may have more/better thoughts than myself but it has been shown that some of the published serial number dating is inaccurate. Given this gun has Philly stamping but your letter shows a 1931 shipment it could have been in progress/inventory when Savage took over in 1929 but not sold/shipped until 2 years later. Either way a great gun!!
