1925 Winchester M!2 Tournament Grade

3 Attachment(s)
Not a vintage double but a 99 year old Model 12 Tournament Grade 12g pump gun, pretty much original except for the replacement buttstock with about 2-3/8” drop vs. its original high Trap comb. Nickel Steel, 32" barrel and solid rib. She made her sporting clays debut with 100 birds today and came in second in our group of 7 shooters against two Perazzis, three Beretta competition gas guns and a Browning o/u. If I do my part, that Full choke and 7/8 ounce of 7-1/2's will do anything on the course. :)

The Tournament Grade from the 1925 Winchester catalog --

Thank you Dave for posting that catalog cut. Dave Riffle in his Model 12 book states that the Tournament Grade was also available with 26", 28" and 32" barrels on request and at no additional charge.

Love her early/small Trap style forend and that looooong sighting plane: 32” + almost 4” over the top of the receiver = about 36”.

Frank, Great looking wood on your gun. They shoot great with those long barrels, here's my Tournament 32" solid rib

Who did the stock work Mr. Frank?

Frank Srebro 08-14-2024 02:43 PM

Sorry William, I don’t know. The buttstock already on the Winny when I bought her.
Incidentally the stock does have a WRA grip cap although its wrist checkering doesn’t match the later factory A or B patterns shown in Riffle’s book.

That's a beauty, Frank. I would love to shoot one like it. Thanks for posting the pics and, GOOD SHOOTING!

This gun was my Dad's gun, He said it costed $5 when He was around 16 years old.

I'd sure like to see you kill true pairs with it. Actually, even a report pair would be a challenge, with a single shot without an ejector.
