gun club brass head hulls

I was out at the clays range retesting some lighter powder loads, when i found a batch of once fired ,new condition Rem Gunclub hulls. Brought em home for cleaning and sizing. As i examined them more closely I found out they had brass plated steel heads, not the usual zinc light-colored ones like my other 3 k empties I have.
Are these maybe from some of the new released Gubclub shells with the new packaging?. Haven't bought shells for years. May wind up cutting one in half to compare to existing batch I own. Any info or thoughts will be appreciated.

Older GC hulls were brass plated steel.

Remington made a running change back to brass-plated steel on the Gun Club shells this year. They are in the new packaging. As Cold Spring noted, the GC shells started out brass-plated originally, a "cost-saving" change made to Nickel-Zinc plated steel ("silver" color) recently and now back to the brass-plated cap. There is NO difference in the hull, itself. All the STS, Nitro27, Gun Club, Game loads, etc are all the "RC" style hull with the same internal dimensions.

Yeah ! This will help me sort out my inventory from older to newer once fired hulls. Big help Mr Hanes. Mattly

I saw on the 16-gauge forum that the new 16-gauge Gun Clubs are Federals. I put some side by side with some older fired Gun Clubs and the new ones are longer like the purple Federals. I bought a few flats of the new ones and on the side of the flat it says Federal Ammunition.
