How many are left?

After years of seeing parts for sale and guns that are not wearing original parts I wonder how many whole Parkers there are now? 50%?

CraigThompson 06-14-2024 12:29 PM

I assume you're wondering how many are still 100% original manufacture or factory replacement parts ?

Gerald McPherson 06-14-2024 03:29 PM

How many are still usable. How many would be as they left the factory. I shot a vh for years before I noticed it had a gh forend that was worn.

I’m not 70 yet and have replacement parts. :)

I imagine over years of use, few lower grade guns are “all original.” The really amazing thing is that so many have taken the proverbial beating and are indeed still ticking.

My thoughts are concerning how many have survived as whole useable guns.

I am curious along the same line. Thank you for raising the question.

Interesting question - The total number is skewed higher based on the great number of lower grade guns - ie. 117,000 grade 0 V .. vs .. 1,800 CH - do people assume that the VH guns were used harder as tools and CH guns were more prized possessions and possibly stored, maintained, passed down more carefully? Possibly then it is easier to find a near perfect CH or BH than a VH because of the usage level . Of course with so many VH there have to be some around that were purchased and forgotten about for a good long time.

lots of guns coming to marker statistically have to be heavily used VH /Trojan probably bad for pricing on those. And a few gems will pop up and surprise people

the knowledge on this site will be critical to help people determine if they have a very nice original gun .. or to their surprise ..a not so desireable (to a collector) mash up of old parts.

Harry, would you expound on your thoughts here?
Are you thinking collectors will age and pass, then the next generation will dump the collection?

I personally have taken apart over 100 of them for parts. And those parts go into other guns. It is the "circle of life".
