Need more info on Vickers.
I have a VHE that apparently had Damascus barrels or damaged barrels and is now wearing " E.S.C. Vickers Works - nickel steel" stamped barrels. The person I got it from wasn't too informed as it is ” a Parker Repro". Its unusual for sure.
The frame is engraved, maybe to a certain grade specification, and then it was blued.
Serial number falls in a batch of about 4500 (209319) guns not accounted for in serialization book.
First question: Did Parker ever fall on hard times and sell just frames ? Possibly being unable to make barrels? Just curious.
The wood seems to be replaced and the butt stock is fitted very well. However it is quite stocky and heavy. Gun weighs 7.2. Beaver tail forend. Checkered plate w/ spots of rust.
26 1\4 inch tubes marked with 3 and 4 stars . Mod/I.C. tapered, matted rib. No dents or pitting.
Electors work well.
Has there been any problems with Vickers barrels?
This gun hasn't been used much since its transformation.
Pictures will tell more of a story than I can print.

VHE Vickers barrels

I guess not much interest in giving information or maybe there isn't much to give in Vickers.

That ad is not as early as I assumed, when first viewing it, Dave. There is a zip code in the address at the bottom of the page, and they didn't originate until 1963.

Interesting to me that replacement barrels were being sold for Parkers that "late".

Probably by Armi G. Borghesi-Sarezzo V.T.
The 'XX' on the flat is the Italian date code for 1964

I remember these "Atlas" replacement barrels enjoying a brief market "freshening" in the late 1960s - early 1970s. I considered ordering a pair of their 20 gauge Model 21 Winchester replacement barrels as a second set to a nice field grade M21 in 20 gauge but never followed through on it. At the time the quote from Winchester's barrel shop was $2200 and a 12-18 month wait for fitting and completion.
