Need help with reassembly
1 Attachment(s)
I'm embarrassed to ask but what the heck. Can anyone help me out with reinstalling the little pin shown in the attached photo?
|
Dave, it looks like the pin that pushes the trip (the L shaped piece) up to lock the bolt open and hold the top lever to the right when you open up the action. There should be a spring that slides over the narrow end. The spring end then goes into the hole in the bottom of the trip, the pin end fits in the little indent in the cocking slide. Either that or it is the cocking hook pin, minus the spring, that pushes the hook on the barrels out.

Bob is correct on his first suggestion but you need to find that tiny coil spring. Chances are it is still up in the hole if you don't have it in hand.

Dave, it is, as Bob and Dean said, the pin that goes up into the hole where it pushes the lever that you depress to let the top thumb lever spring over to center, as when storing the gun in the case. You can see in your picture the detent into which the big end fits on the cocking slide on the bottom plate. With the action upside down, look for the hole immediately below (if it were right-side-up) the small lever you depress to let the top thumb lever spring over. As said, the small spring (which may still be in the hole) fits over the small end, which goes into the hole. Call me if I can help more: 307-733-3626.
