Detail clean on the lifter Part II
I made some progress this morning on the disassembly process.
I was surprised how many of the pieces are serialized. I will be able to do a better detailed visual inspection for serviceability once the parts are clean. Stay tuned for part three. Best regards, Jeff |

Jeff,
It looks like your doing this old girl a great big favor!! Keep us post on the progress. |
You've got a nice project there, Jeff! Any luck separating the hammers from the tumblers?
|
Hi Roundsworth,
Very tricky indeed. Soaked the whole lock assembly in aerokroil for a couple of days. I ended up using two small plastic tapered scrapers and "worried" the hammer off. Actually I used the tapers like little wedges between the hammer and the lock plate, working them around as evenly as possible and slowly the hammer moved up the square shaft until free. The parts are cleaning up nicely. Best regards, Jeff |
Did you attempt the procedure I outlined in your other post? As long as you got your hammer off without any collateral damage, you're good to go!
|
Roundsworth,
I hadn't seen your post on the other thread. Sounds like a good procedure. I will try that method for the other side. Thanks for the tips. Best regards, Jeff |
As Gomer Pile wouls say gaaalieee. Suppose somebody put grease inside one time long ago that made all that guck?
|
That is a century of "old" oil than has gone bad.
