Detail clean on the lifter Part II
 

I made some progress this morning on the disassembly process.
I was surprised how many of the pieces are serialized.

Looks like it's time to clean some parts. I will be able to do a better detailed visual inspection for serviceability once the parts are clean. Stay tuned for part three.

You've got a nice project there, Jeff! Any luck separating the hammers from the tumblers?

Hi Roundsworth,

Very tricky indeed. Soaked the whole lock assembly in aerokroil for a couple of
days. I ended up using two small plastic tapered scrapers and "worried" the hammer off. Actually I used the tapers like little wedges between the hammer and the lock plate, working them around as evenly as possible and slowly the hammer moved up the square shaft until free.
The parts are cleaning up nicely.

Did you attempt the procedure I outlined in your other post? As long as you got your hammer off without any collateral damage, you're good to go!

As Gomer Pile wouls say gaaalieee. Suppose somebody put grease inside one time long ago that made all that guck?

That is a century of "old" oil than has gone bad.
