Another duck season opened!
 

Opened my 54th duck season the first Saturday of November with my trusty VH 12 gauge and my now 1 year old lab pup "Skipper". I lost an old girl last December (my avatar, "Smoker") and have been suffering with or cherishing the new pup, depending on the day. We did a fair amount of "pupping" but made a couple of solid retrieves, didn't yell myself horse (don't think they heard me in the next county at all), and did pretty well with blind manners. Overall a howling success! Still real warm but blessed with very few mosquitos. Weren't a lot of birds here yet but got to watch a beautiful sunrise with my new best friend and shot a few blue wingers and the obligatory spoon bill!

Keith, congratulations on another opener. I think I did indeed hear you "call" your pup, though, here in Missouri. It was in between my own "calls" for our first year pup.:)

There is nothing quite like the optimism of starting a new puppy.
