Are these barrels correct

Gunbroker #223198628 is BH 12 with Titanic steel barrels and very interesting engraveing. Wouldn't a BH have Acme steel barrels? A nice gun either way.

I just looked at this again and it was ordered in this configuration with Titanic steel bbls. My question is wouldn't a BH normaly have Acme steel? Would there have been a price difference between the two?

Early B, A, and C Grades were barrelled with Titanic Steel when fluid steel was specified.

Dave Suponski 04-07-2011 04:01 PM

Early D grades also. Right Bill? I think this BH has the correct barrels for the era.

Bill Murphy 04-07-2011 06:58 PM

Yup, D grades, early and late. Only the A, B, and C changed to Acme later on.

I am a new collector and would like some opinions about how the value of a gun like this BH is affected by the stock refinish and how much that answer would differ if the stock was original and refinished versus a replacement stock. Thanks

Titanic Steel barrels were put into production in 1897 while Acme Steel barrels came on the scene later, 1903 or '07 ... can't remember which - need to consult TPS

This is valued quite highly by the seller IMHO.
