Interesting Britisher's take on an old "War Horse" Parker
|
I used to frequent a UK stalkers forum and when I became enamored with the 8 gauge I posted some questions . After I got the first Parker 8 I posted some pictures as well as those of the other three Parker 8’s that I’ve owned over the last few years . As time went on I posted pics of other Parker guns and typically those limey pricks made rude comments .

It’s no worse than the old Ford vs. Chevy insults of years past. Mine’s better-bigger-stronger-more expensive-etc. than yours… mostly in good fun.
Actually the host speaks very admiringly of the old well-used Parker he bought for a couple of hundred pounds. . |
Well, we truly are two countries separated by a common language.
The same goes with shooting and hunting. Tastes are different, attire is different, method, style, etc. The British have no issue with refreshing, reblacking, or refinishing a shotgun. While many Americans have meltdowns over it. You could go on and on... |
Johny's video are entertaining, and he has a way of saying things off the cuff that I find humorous.
I spent a LOT of time in England and Scotland during my 20 year working relationship with British foundries, and the one thing I always got annoyed over, was the ever-present "NIH" (Not Invented Here) attitude. A great deal of my work in the developement of the 'Replicast' process was incorporated into the formal process, but they always found a way to tweak it into taking the credit for it. |
History would suggest that those who served in the Mighty Eighth Air Force during WWII would agree with Edgar.

The British arrogance got old with me a long time ago

My pop was stationed outside of London back in the 50’s while in the USAF . He said you’d go in a pub/tavern and they didn’t have much to say , but if you bought a round they were all your friends that night . He said they were having a recession while he was there and a bottle of beer was about a nickle and those guys would nurse one bottle all night . And they were in heaven if a Yank gave them a second and or third bottle . Of course he said when you bought a round it was usually six or less customers .
