Fox Sterlingworth 16 ga Ejector

Every once in a while a person runs across a nice little gun, and even though it's not a Parker, you still have to have it. I found this 16 gauge with 30" barrels and ejectors, so I had it cleaned up a some and extended the 2-1/2" chambers. It was made in Philly around 1916. The gun only weighs 6 lbs 6 oz and swings nicely and as a result it's fun to shoot. The barrels are not marked, but they fit into the #4 weight class.

Very nice!! This gun is only the eleventh 30-inch 16-gauge Sterlingworth I've recorded since I began my compilation of observed Sterlingworths back in 1989 at McIntosh's suggestion. I've recorded 123 28-inch, 37 26-inch and 3 32-inch.

Plus it has bone and charcoal colors, after about 1917 Fox went to cyanide color. Very nice!

Love to find a nice 28, or 30" 16ga sterlingworth like that. Very nice.

That’s a nice shotgun.

What does something like this go for these days? I had a 16 ga Fox Sterlingworth as a kid and would like to replace it someday. Mine was the 38th one manufactured.

That's a nice one Larry! My 16ga Sterly ejector, 28", 6lbs. 8oz. It has done me proud for a lotta years...

My first 16-gauge Fox is a Sterlingworth Ejector Field that shipped July 1, 1928, that I got from Randy Shuman 39 years ago. Planned to replace the Fray-Mershon Whiteline pad with something more appropriate, but I haven't gotten around to it!!

My 16 gauge 1913 Sterlingworth (28 inch barrels) is my # 1 choice for upland game hunting and has killed game in across multiple midwestern & western states.
My 1917 12 gauge Sterlingworth (30 inch barrels) is my late season prairie upland game gun.
