Grouse gun

Hi. I inherited a 1892 parker ph. According to the parker letter it was ordered by John lovell arms of boston. It has twist steel barrels length of 28 inches pistol grip weight 7 pounds.
I use this gun for grouse hunting using low powered shells by rst. The gun is great in the woods, points nice and not too heavy. My question is..would you hunt with it? I don't think it's rare and needs to stay in the case.

Edit it is 12g

By all means hunt with it using appropriate loads and care for it. It is in fine condition and should give you many more years of service it treated correctly. Good luck and happy hunting.

That was its intended purpose. They who made them made them to be used. The joy in these guns is found in there use, not as curios.

I could not agree more. I quite like the PH. Yours is a nice example. I’m not a fan of storing a gun in a case. Protecting the gun during transport, yes but long term storage, not so much. I have seen some that languished inside a case to only be found in rusted condition years later. Unless you are referring to a display case, then your PH is a fine addition to be removed and exercised often!!
