Kurt, I too would like the answer to your question. What I can tell you is that I load all brass hulls in 16, 12 and 10. However, all loaded with Black Powder with vegetable fiber and paper wads. The brass hulls are thin walled and the wads used are typically one gauge larger to form a tight seal. A plastic wad of the same gauge would fit too loosely.
The manufacturer's back in the day specifically informed customers that brass hulls were not to be used with smokeless powder.
Brass hulls when used with Black Powder can be reused indefinitely, as long as they are not crimped.
I too, would just love to have reliable data for smokeless. I’m not holding my breath and I’ve never been one to experiment.

I’ve been messing recently with some original Winchester 10 gauge hulls and am trying to use smokeless in them . However the way the primer housing has powder below the fire exit hole sometimes they don’t ignite properly so I bought some 3/4” diameter plastic dowel rod and cut some discs about the same thickness and the primer thing in the bottom of the shell sticks up . Tried hot melt glue and that isn’t holding them all consistently so I need to get some two part epoxy I think . But as to the actual load I plan to use my regular 10 gauge Ross Seyfried load with some minor adaptions.

I use a coupla grains of black powder on the primer when using smokeless powder in a brass shell...works for me....charlie
